Madeline Nichols-Russell

1.What is the funniest thing you remember as a child?
I am fond of the name Mary Elizabeth, the name of my great grandmother, my grandmother, and my aunt: strong trailblazing women. However, since the world still has two of these women making a difference, I will stay with Madeline Elizabeth. “Madeline” means great and magnificent, which inspires me. My mother named me after the children’s story book character, and I try to emulate the little redheaded girl who is inquisitive and loves other cultures.

2.What is the one piece of clothing you wish you owned?
My favorite day of the week is Wednesday. Half of the week’s work is done, which fills me with a sense of accomplishment! I enjoy going to church Wednesday evenings, and afterwards, my youth group discusses our highs and lows of the week. My youth group is supportive, and no matter what, I can always rely on them to make me laugh—I am blessed to have such a group to spend Wednesdays with.

3.What season of the year is your favorite and why?
My favorite movie is “Annie!.” I love musical theater, and two times in my life I have performed portions of this musical on stage. The movie itself teaches a lesson of positivity, thankfulness, and friendship. The main character is a determined, redheaded girl, who sings, dances, and turns a bad day into something positive, much like me. Plus, neither of us can live without our dog!

4.What is your favorite movie?
Dance has always had a special place in my heart. It is an expression of what you feel through energetic motion and movement. Dance is my sport, one that can be expressed individually, and also celebrated in a group. My dance team has become a sisterhood, and my heart beats with my team members. In dance, the only competition you have is with the one looking back at you in the mirror.
